Real Criteria for Comparing Managed IT Service Providers in Mexico: Service Catalog, SLA, Security, Languages, Pricing — and Red Flags.
“What are the best managed service providers (MSP) in Mexico?” is one of the most frequently asked questions by CEOs and IT managers who are considering outsourcing. The honest answer: there is no such thing as “the best MSP”—there is the right MSP for your type of company. This guide explains how to identify it, using the criteria we would apply if we were on the buyer’s side.
A Managed Service Provider ( MSP ) operates your IT infrastructure on an ongoing basis under contract—including monitoring, patching, security, user support, and governance—for a predictable monthly fee. This is not the same as an integrator (who carries out projects and then leaves) or an on-demand technician (who charges by the hour when something goes wrong). The value of a lies in prevention: ensuring that things don’t go wrong.
Prices vary depending on scope, but as a rough estimate for the Mexican market: managed support per user typically ranges from 600 to 1,500 MXN per month per seat, depending on the service level and hours of coverage; infrastructure management (servers, network, cloud) is priced per device or by scope; and contracts offering 24/7 trilingual support and regulatory compliance fall at the high end of the range. Be wary of the two extremes: offers that are suspiciously cheap (which often exclude security and limit support tickets) and premium offerings without a pricing structure to justify them.
Start with an independent IT audit that documents your current status: inventory, risks, and vulnerabilities. Using that report, ask 2–3 MSP for proposals covering the same scope—that way, you can compare apples to apples. Evaluate them using the 7 criteria above, visit the finalists’ offices, and agree on a 3–6-month pilot with SLA and a clean exit clause.
Transparency: This article was written by a MSP. We have a specific focus— IT management with a detailed service catalog, a 24/7 help desk in Spanish, English, and French, 30 years of experience, and a clear specialization in international subsidiaries and regulated sectors (pharmaceutical, automotive, legal, diplomatic). If your company is 100% local, has 10 employees, and has no compliance requirements, there are more cost-effective options than us, and we’ll let you know during our first call. If you operate across two countries, in two languages, or within a regulated framework—that’s where we’re hard to beat.
The next step isn't to hire—it's to conduct an audit. Request an assessment of your environment and make an informed decision—with us or with whoever you choose.
